Dr. Md Motiur Rahaman Chowdhury is an Associate Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources Technology at Rangamati Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. He holds a BSc in Fisheries (Honours) from Khulna University and an MBA from the American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB), Bangladesh. He completed both his MSc and PhD at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, with academic and research specializations in sustainable aquatic resource management, fisheries conservation, and ecological restoration. Dr. Chowdhury also earned a Professional Teacher Education qualification from JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Finland, making him a certified and qualified teacher for Finnish Universities.

 

Dr. Chowdhury has undertaken postdoctoral research at the Italian National Research Council (CNR), Italy, and the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He has further served as a visiting scholar and research collaborator at several renowned international institutions, including the Technical University of Munich (Germany), Karlstad University (Sweden), the Water Research Institute (IRSA-CNR, Italy), and the Mill of Kalborn Research Centre (Luxembourg). His research portfolio spans biodiversity conservation, sustainable fisheries management, aquatic ecological restoration, and the improvement of community livelihoods dependent on aquatic ecosystems.

 

In addition to his research and academic engagements, Dr. Chowdhury has delivered scientific presentations at major international conferences across multiple countries, including the USAGermany, Italy, Poland, and Finland. His participation in these global scientific forums reflects his active contribution to advancing knowledge and international collaboration in fisheries science and aquatic ecology.
